White Crane Kung Fu and Tai Chi (WCKFTC) has been teaching for 7 years now. It has locations in Ranelagh and Portobello and this new location adds more classes to the Dublin 6 area. Eddie Walsh, the chief Instructor at WCKFTC is a professional martial artist. He is a member of the Kung Fu and Tai Chi board of the Irish Martial Arts Commission, the official governing body for martial arts in Ireland.
Kids Kung fu is a vibrant and fun-filled class. The emphasis is on fun while learning and there are games and padwork to keep the kids enthused. All helpers undergo Garda/National vetting and we are signatories to the Irish Martial Arts Commission’s Child Safety policy.
Tai Chi is a slow-moving martial art and is famous in the West for its rehabilitative and stress-busting applications but it is much more. We teach tai chi as a martial art in a traditional way so you will also benefit from the self-defence side and the many other benefits from understanding what the essence is of Tai Chi.
Kung fu is a fast paced class which goes through a tough fitness and flexibility work out as well as learning an advanced martial art. White Crane Kung fu was reputedly created by a woman called Fang Chi Niang in Fujian Province in south eastern China.
Padwork and sparring is where you put your kung fu skills to the test. Padwork allows you to begin to concentrate your power and sparring allows you to use your skills in a live situation.
